Bookshelf

Here is my non-exhaustive digital bookshelf of all that I've read and enjoyed, to be added to as I go along, there'll be a Roman numeral at the far right for how many times I've read/reread each particular work. Any books listed in italics are books I read in French.

My Favorite Shitty Books

The best of the absolute worst.

Liber 333, my model for how to not write a theory-fiction collection.
Iron Gates, a post-apocalyptic frolic through the mind of a sexual deviant. Kafka on fentanyl.
The Despoiled Oracle: SF Field Reports, a good example of how to ruin an inherently interesting idea as well as the dangers of self-publishing your first draft without significant revisions.
Falcifer: Lord of Darkness, an Order of Nine Angles novella, a battle between the forces of evil and evil-er. Somehow the best thing Anton Long's ever written, and that's not a compliment. He'd do better to turn a crystal tetrahedron into a bong.
Down There, snoozefest. How this is considered the classic of Satanism is beyond me. An innovator in allowing Satanists to justify enjoying the pleasures of open relationships and cuckoldry.
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan, I hate this book so much that it physically angers me, I can feel my cortisol spike. Proof that good writing is a different skill than good copy editing.
Diablo: Legacy of Blood, the least offensive book on this list so far. Pulp dark fantasy that slides gradually into sludge.

Dropped Items

I sadly won't be able to read everything I come across during my lifetime, and I think rather than consciously attempt to finish everything I read, I should let myself take a step back and tell myself, in the wise voice of Greg Universe, It's always okay to bail. So, here's a list of everything that didn't entirely hold my interest that I may one day decide to return to. I call it my anti-library.

The Parallax View, Slavoj Žižek
Logic: A Very Short Introduction, Graham Priest
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Deceived, Paul S. Kemp
The Dash— The Other Side of Absolute Knowing, Comay, Ruda
Deleuze and Guattari's 'What is Philosophy?', Rex Butler
Deleuze and Guattari's Anti-Oedipus: Introduction to Schizoanalysis, Eugene Holland
Stylish Academic Writing, Helen Sword
Writing to Learn, William Zinsser
